New programs are designed to prepare students for work in business, IT, health sciences, nursing and web development
DAVENPORT, Iowa -- Kaplan University, a leader in higher education innovation, today announced the launch of a new Master of Science in Health Education degree program as well as seven new specializations, three new certificates and two new technology tracks, all designed to prepare students to work in some of today's fastest growing fields.

The School of Health Sciences has launched a Master of Science in Health Education graduate degree, designed to provide students with the capabilities to educate individuals, groups and communities on the preventative measures and intervention of a wide range of health issues. Graduates may pursue careers in areas such as health educator or community health director at nonprofits and other community based organizations, healthcare facilities and insurers, educational institutions and local and state and federal government agencies.
New specializations within the School of Business and Management:
* Master of Business Administration, Information Technology Specialization
* Master of Science in Accounting, Tax Specialization
* Master of Science in Accounting, Government Specialization
* Master of Science in Accounting, Finance Specialization
* Master of Science in Accounting, Audit Specialization
New specializations within the School of Nursing:
* Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner Specialization
* Master of Science in Nursing, Adult Nurse Practitioner Specialization
Note: Nurse practitioner programs are only available in the following states: California, Iowa, Florida, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and South Dakota.
Within the School of Information Systems and Technology, there are two new ways to earn the bachelor's in IT:
Bachelor of Science in Information Technology - Information Systems Track
This program requires advanced math courses such as statistics, linear algebra, discrete mathematics and a systems architecture course. The five career focus areas in this track include application development, database management, health informatics, information security and forensics, and mobile computing. With the goal of providing technology skills; an ability to analyze client specifications; an ability to design information systems; and an understanding of client specifications and project management skills, this track is designed to prepare students for careers as a computer programmer, database administrator, database analyst, information security analyst, computer systems manager, among others.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, national long-term job growth between 2008 and 2018 for network and computer systems administrators is expected to be 23 percent.
Bachelor Science in Information Technology - Applied Technology Track
This program teaches students how to use and manage various information systems and technologies to best serve the needs of employees, customers and organizations. It offers career focus areas in information systems management, network administration, new media/Internet marketing, project management and web development. This track is designed to provide technology skills; an ability to evaluate IT trends, practices and products; an understanding of client specifications; an ability to design information systems; capabilities of business analysis; and project management skills. Students in the Applied Technology Track may pursue a career as an information systems manager, systems analyst, IT consultant, internet marketing manager and network analyst, among many more.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, national long-term job growth between 2008 and 2018 for computer and information systems managers is expected to be 17 percent.
There are also two new certificates within the School of Nursing:
* Graduate Certificate, Adult Nurse Practitioner
* Graduate Certificate, Family Nurse Practitioner

And, a new certificate within Kaplan Continuing Education, Information Technology:
